Sometimes you just need a really great rock track, and this one provides exactly that. This track is hard, edgy, and just plain excellent. It's a worthy addition to any playlist.
#9: Sick Of It by Skillet

Peak Position: #1 (2 weeks)
This falls into a similar category as the last one, which is not surprising, considering Skillet was the band that "found" We As Humans and put them on the fast track. This track is just more of what Skillet does best; it's hard, it's catchy, the lyrics are relatively simple, but they work well, and the vocals hit hard. Another great track.
#8: Mirrors by Justin Timberlake

Peak Position: #1 (3 weeks)
JT made a big splash this year, coming back to the music industry with a vengeance. This track is the one that made the biggest splash with me. It's an excellent rendition, with a fantastic beat laying underneath the entire song. The emotion in the lyrics can be felt throughout JT's vocals, and it just works on all levels.

Peak Position: #3
Sometimes the lyrics of a song hit me because they relate to my life. This song is pretty much the polar opposite of that. The lyrics are solid, but it's really the musical stylings of Three Days Grace that kept this song steadily rising on my chart and kept it around for such a long time.
#6: The One That Got Away by The Civil Wars

Peak Position: #1 (1 week)
The Civil Wars' sound is just plain right. It's deep, it's soulful, it's bluegrass, it's strong vocals and lyrics, and it's songs filled with emotion. This song is just the latest example of that.
#5: Demons by Imagine Dragons

Peak Position: #1 (3 weeks)
This may have been my favorite discovery of 2013. Imagine Dragons certainly hit it big with It's Time, but it kept coming in 2013, and this track is one fantastic example of that. The musical styles that this band make work so flawlessly are truly impressive.
#4: Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

Peak Position: #1 (4 weeks)
It clearly bears repeating, but Imagine Dragons had a big 2013 in my book. This song was so ridiculously catchy, and the mix hard rock with electronic beats made the song stand out compared to most everything else. It was the similar to a lot of stuff, but so very different, and so much better because of it.

This is quintessential country: Booze and heartbreak. Dierks Bentley does it quite well. His range on this song only makes it that much more excellent, with the lows going places that make the highs even higher. This is country music at its finest.

Peak Position: #1 (5 weeks)
This one came incredibly close to overtaking the top song of the year. One more week in the Top 20 (Which would have happened) would have been the difference. Panic! has always been great at incredibly catchy song, and this one is no different. The vocals are so unique, and it only adds to the enjoyability of this track.

Peak Position: #1 (5 weeks)
Forget about the other song that people will talk about from these guys in 2013. This is the real track worth listening to. It's upbeat, it's fun, and it's different from anything else out there right now. Macklemore shows off some excellent mic skills throughout this track, and it all flat out works. It's definitely a worthy track to top the list this year.
So there you have it. 50 songs that had some excellent years, but only one sits atop the list, and the honor goes to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. What will next year bring us? Only time will tell, of course, but a strong precedent has certainly been set here in 2013.
