Lakeside Fantasy Baseball: Week 5 Power Rankings and Week 6 Preview

We no longer have any undefeated teams, and we have a few other surprises.  Here's this week's power rankings:

1.  And Another One Bites The DL-Randy Blum (39 Points)
Randy takes a tough loss this week, putting up over 1000 and still losing.  Chalk it up to bad luck, and don't expect it to happen much.  He's still the most dominant team in the league, missing out on a perfect 40 points solely because of the loss dropping him into a 3-way tie for 1st in the standings.

2. Zimmerman Telegraph-Shane Sandri (32.5 Points)
Shane finally has a down week, and it costs him his undefeated record as well.  I would still expect Shane to come out swinging next week, but it will be an interesting match-up for sure.  One team will rebound, one will drop two in a row after starting the year undefeated.  It should be fun.

3. The Bryce Is Right-Andrew Blum (28 Points)
Andrew picks up a big win this week over Shane, and he now sits tied for 1st in Division 1.  At 4-1, Andrew is in a good position early on this season, and he could continue to move up the power rankings as the weeks go on.

4. A New Era-Austin Drake (25 Points)
Austin takes a tough loss this week, with a team that just couldn't seem to get going.  He ends up with the week's lowest point total, but this is another week that I would tend to write off as a fluke.  However, falling to 2-3 hurts in a week where he could have gained a game on Shane.

5. The Fresh "Prince"-Scott Stepaniak (22 Points)
Scott has a big week, putting up the most points of the week and ending Randy's undefeated streak.  Now at 2-3, he's hoping to turn this into something bigger in the coming weeks, and he's got a team that certainly could do it.

6.  Yu Don't Even Know-Brian Rossen (21.5 Points)
Brian ends up giving Kyle his first win of the season this week, and he also falls to 2-3.  His team still looks solid, but he seems to be missing the offensive equivalent of Yu Darvish right now.  He definitely has the potential to find on his team, though.

7. Albuquerque Isotopes-Josh Blum (21 Points)
Josh pulled out to an early lead and never looked back this week, and ended up cruising to a 200 point victory.  His team seems to be coming together after a slow start, and some early season trades look like they may pay off in the long run.  If he can get another win this week, it may be the start of a strong run.

8.  LC Legend-Kyle Trondle (12.5 Points)
Kyle finally gets his first win of the season, and that's an important win.  His team is definitely better than the record indicates, and this could be the start of something.  He has a very tough match-up this week, though.

9. ThE RoUnD MoUnD Of ReBoUnD-Ervin Demirasi (12 Points)
Now, here's an odd one.  Ervin is 3-2, and that puts him in second place in Division 2.  But it's the underlying numbers that tell the story here: Ervin is 9th in points, last in highlight days and, perhaps most damning, is 9th in Total Record at 13-32.  His winning record has very much been a product of playing the right team at the right time.  If it keeps up, he could have a deceivingly good record for much of the season.  I don't expect that to happen, though.

10.  No More Haren Addiction-Andy Ashbaugh (6.5 Points)
One week after picking up win #1, Andy had another solid week.  However, he ended up getting crushed by Josh and ended up with a loss anyway.  He's still lagging behind in total points, and he's going to need to pick it up to keep from falling out of contention early.

This week's match-ups give us our first inter-division week, with all 10 teams taking on teams from the other division.  In the game of the week, #1 And Another One Bites The DL (4-1) takes on #2 Zimmerman Telegraph (4-1), in a match that should be pretty exciting all week long.  Neither team is undefeated any longer, but both will be looking to keep out of a losing streak.

Meanwhile, #3 The Bryce Is Right (4-1) takes on #8 LC Legend (1-4), where Kyle will be looking to get some momentum after his 1st win.  #4 A New Era (2-3) has a very intriguing match-up against #5 The Fresh "Prince" (2-3), as both teams are now looking to get back to .500 this week.   #6 Yu Don't Even Know (2-3) has a good match-up against #10 No More Haren Addiction (1-4) and might expect an easy win.  However, Andy's proven that, despite the record, he can be some pretty tough competition.  And finally, #7 Albuquerque Isotopes (2-3) goes up against #9 ThE RoUnD MoUnD Of ReBoUnD (3-2), in a match-up that could be decided early in the week, based on which Ervin team shows up this week.

Until next week, good luck to all!
